Congratulations to Lia Roybal for being our 2020 Connecticut Teen Representative at the annual Teen Speak Up! Conference in Washington D.C.
Lia, a teenager from Rocky Hill living with epilepsy, traveled down to Washington D.C. on March 1st, 2020 to represent Connecticut at the Teen Speak Up! Conference. During her time at the conference, Lia received training in how to effectively advocate for some of the most important issues facing the epilepsy community in America. Lia was able to connect with teenagers form across the country that are living with epilepsy.
Following her training, Lia had the opportunity to meet with members of the Connecticut Congressional Delegation – including Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro, Senator Richard Blumenthal, Senator Chris Murphy, and Congressman John Larson. Lia will now engage in her “Year of Service” following the conference to continue her advocacy efforts for the 36,000 individuals living with epilepsy in Connecticut.
The Epilepsy Foundation of Connecticut leads the fight to overcome the challenges of living with epilepsy and to accelerate therapies to stop seizures, find cures and save lives.
