Epilepsy Foundation Statement on Appointments to EEOC Commission
03/27/2010

WASHINGTON, MARCH 27, 2010 -- The Epilepsy Foundation applauds the Obama Administration’s appointment of all pending nominees to the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission today.

The Epilepsy Foundation is particularly pleased that Professor Chai Feldblum will finally join the Commission. Feldblum served as the pro bono counsel for the Epilepsy Foundation and the disability community advising on modifications to the Americans with Disabilities Act to ensure that all people with epilepsy who faced unfair discrimination would once again be covered by the law.

Professor Feldblum’s substantial legal, analytic and negotiating skills as leader of the Federal Legislation Clinic at Georgetown University Law Center were applied to our cause. She helped us secure not just the support of the business and disability community, but also the unprecedented unanimous bipartisan support of Congress  for the ADA Amendments Act of 2008.

We trust that having her skills in place at the EEOC, along with those of the other superb nominees, will help dramatically improve the employment of people with disabilities in the United States.
