The goal of Athletes vs. Epilepsy is to bring about better awareness of epilepsy and the Epilepsy Foundation's mission to stop seizures, find a cure, and overcome the challenges created by epilepsy.
The Foundation seeks to accomplish this through education, advocacy, and research to accelerate ideas into therapies through appearances and participation by athletes of all levels -- from little league to professional athletes.
The initiative is led by co-chairs Geoff Pope and Sam Estes with Chandra Gunn and Zach McGinnis serving as spokeswoman and spokesman, respectively.
Initially developed as TEAM ETP, the Epilepsy Therapy Project's race program, Athletes vs. Epilepsy offers athletes the opportunity to play or race and fundraise in support of accelerating new therapies for people living with epilepsy and seizures.
