Epilepsy Foundation Board member Ryan Dillon is being honored as a D.C. United Community Star for his volunteer work on behalf of the Foundation. He will be recognized during the D.C. United game against the Columbus Crew on September 4 at 7:30 p.m. at RFK Stadium in Washington, D.C.
Ryan, who had his first seizure as an infant and was diagnosed with epilepsy as a teenager, works tirelessly to promote epilepsy awareness. “I never ask ‘why me,’ ” says Ryan. “The old saying goes, ‘when life gives you lemons, make lemonade,’ but I say, when life gives you epilepsy, talk about it!”
D.C. United has a two-fold obligation: winning championships and serving the community. The Community Stars initiative fosters the team’s commitment to the community by recognizing and supporting organizations and individuals for service to others.
D.C. United Community Stars is open to any person who demonstrates leadership, compassion, dedication and a commitment to making their community a better place. Any person, regardless of age, within the D.C. Metropolitan area is eligible for consideration.
