In August of 2019 the world lost an incredible soul far too soon. Teddy Tsagaris accomplished a lot in his short amount of time and touched many lives along the way. A lover of all sports, he grew up in Westchester, New York playing and coaching baseball where he learned hard work and motivation for greatness. From a young age it was apparent that he wanted to make a difference in the world and give back. He was part of a search and rescue team in Houston, Texas where he lived after college, and was also a certified protection officer. At the time of his death, he had just been accepted as a candidate for the Houston Police Department. Teddy suffered from sporadic nocturnal seizures from 2010 until his passing in 2018. In 2015 a benign brain tumor was found in his right temporal lobe which was contributing to the nocturnal seizures. In 2016 he had brain surgery to remove it with successful and impressive recovery and no tumor regrowth. In the next two years nocturnal seizures continued post-surgery but he did not let the seizures alter his life or prevent him from fulfilling his hopes and dreams. On August 22, 2018 we lost Teddy to a nocturnal seizure ultimately classified as SUDEP (sudden unexpected death from epilepsy). The Epilepsy Foundation helps bring awareness and research to all forms of epilepsy while also supporting families who are affected.
