11th Annual Sharon's Ride.Run.Walk. For Epilepsy Raises $52,000!

We are pleased to report the 11th Annual Sharon's Ride.Run.Walk for Epilepsy had 515 participants and raised $52,000 to support those with epilepsy in Connecticut.

A huge thank you to all of our sponsors: Sunovion, Supernous, Eisai, UCB, Lundbeck , The Comprehensive Epilepsy Center at Hartford Hospital, Subway, Trimino, and Northeast Regional Epilepsy Group.

Congratulations to Ian Race, captain of Max: The Amazing Race, top fundraising team. His team raced $5,195 to support our cause. The top three individual fundraisers were Gail Race who raised $1000, Kelly DeFilippis who raised $850 and Chelsea Murallo who raised $429. We would also like to recognize Team Mattie who raised $2,455 and Team Emily who raised $2,380 – great job to all!

We are very grateful to Dr. Rosenfeld, founder of the event, for his continuous, support the West Haven Police and Fire Departments who volunteered their time on the day of the event, and especially to Kelly Bustos and Ed Barros, Co-Chairs West Haven, Marty Levine, Chair Stamford Location and all of the volunteers who made the day possible - THANK YOU!

Who is Sharon?

Sharon's Ride.Run.Walk for Epilepsy is dedicated to Sharon Rosenfeld, a nurse and teacher, who cared deeply about epilepsy and who advocated helmet safety.  She was killed on a cross country ride in 1993.  Dr. William Rosenfeld and Susan Lippmann, neurologists who specialize in epilepsy, created the event in honor of Dr. Rosenfeld's sister.


Why Sharon's Run Ride Walk?

All money raised goes directly to the Epilepsy Foundation of Connecticut.  When you join us in Sharon's Ride.Run.Walk for Epilepsy, you're helping to raise the quality of life for people with epilepsy as well as educating the community concerning the importance of wearing a helmet.

Directions to Sharon's Ride.Run.Walk

From 95 North or South - Take Exit 42, Saw Mill Road. Turn Right at the end of the ramp. Stay straight for approximately 2 miles. Turn left on Captain Thomas Blvd. Turn right onto Oak Street. There is a tall brick elderly apartment building on the right hand side.

Be sure to look for our signs.
