Brittany's Brave Brainiacs

Although I was diagnosed with epilepsy just about 2 years ago, I wanted to create a team not only for me, my friend Cathy, and in remembrance of my 13 year old cousin Forest, who passed away in April 2017 but, for all those fighting against epilepsy. I recently finished reading a book called, 'The Thing with Feathers,' and the message the reader should take from it, can be a message for everyone, with or without epilepsy. It shows that there will always be a sign of hope within each of us, "like a bird that continues to fly." Signs of hope, can withstand anything, any obstacle that tries to stop a bright future. Hope is simply a feeling that we have inside, offering encouragement, no matter how extreme the conditions are. Emily Dickinson once began a famous poem of hers saying, "Hope is the thing with feathers that perches on the soul, and sings the tune without the words, and never stops at all." After reading this book and most specifically this poem, I now understand how important the feeling of 'hope' truly is and will continue to pass this on. No one should allow any condition, especially epilepsy, get in the way of the bright future ahead of them. With this mindset, my team and I are going to continue to fight and spread awareness for all of those fighting, having hope, and not let anything get in our way.
